Hill College Board of Regents December 2020 meeting summary

The Hill College Board of Regents' regular meeting was held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020. Board Chair David Teel called the meeting to order at 12:20 p.m. 

The minutes from the November 2020 regular meeting were reviewed. Regent Allan Lane moved to approve the minutes and Regent Karen Brackin seconded. The minutes were unanimously approved.

Dr. Pam Boehm gave the President’s Report:

• November and December financials will be presented at the next meeting in January 2021, along with the annual audit.
• College will be closed for the holiday break December 17 through January 6.
• Annual Christmas party cancelled due to COVID restrictions.
• Recently received Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Reskilling Grant in the amount of $112,500 to assist approximately 75 students with technical and short term training to jumpstart the economy.
• Held a virtual/phone conference with Senator Birdwell along with MCC and Navarro College presidents.
• Met with Representative Cody Harris’ Chief of Staff.
• Attended SACSCOC virtual conference December 4 - 9.
• Received a nice card of gratitude from Judge Bob McGregor, thanking the Board of Regents for their service and for allowing him to perform the Oath of Office.

Dr. Boehm presented Consideration of Approval of Burleson Lease Agreement. Regent Charles Bryant made a motion to approve the agreement and to give Dr. Boehm authority to approve any changes to the final document for Hill College and Burleson ISD. Regent Brackin seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Dr. Kerry Schindler presented Consideration of Approval of Affiliation Agreement with Vertava Health & Hill College Health Science & Criminal Justice Program. Regent Jolene Lehmann made a motion to accept the affiliation agreement and it was seconded by Regent Brackin. The motion passed. 

Jamie Jaska presented the recent Hill College personnel hires and resignations. Regent Tony Marley made a motion to accept the recent personnel changes and Regent Jennifer Nowlin seconded. The motion passed.

With no further business to conduct, Regent Brackin made a motion to adjourn, Regent Lehmann seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 12:45 p.m.
